2008 National Capital Baseball Elite Tournament

16U Champions - Ottawa Knights

The coaches had the host U16 Ottawa Knights team firing on all cylinders as they went undefeated to win the Ottawa Knights U16 tournament on Sunday, July 13 at Lower Kinsmen Park in Kanata.  It was the Knights second tournament championship in three weeks.  The games were all close but the Knights managed to eke out victories in each thanks to outstanding pitching, and good hitting and defence.  In game one the Knights held on to defeat the "never say die" Champlain Edge 8-7.  In game 2, Scott McRae pitched a complete game leading the Knights to a 4-3 victory over the Indian River team from northern New York.  In game 3 Cory Herback was solid, pitching a complete game 3-0 shutout victory over the Montreal Titans.  In the final game for the tournament championship, the tough Champlain Edge from Vermont were matched against the Knights.  Under miserable weather and field conditions Charlie Crabb was outstanding, pitching the entire game, fanning 6 batters on way to a 5-2 win for the tournament championship and was named MVP for the tournament.
