Used baseball gear sale, outdoor workouts

Two events Knights players might be interested in during the coming weeks:

First, Baseball Canada has its used equipment sale on Friday, April 8 from 4-8 p.m., and Saturday, April 9 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. The location is the Baseball Canada office at 2212 Gladwin Cres., Suite A7. Items for sale include bats, spikes, catcher's gear, pants, baseball and other merchandise.

There is also a chance for players to get training on an outdoor ballfield just before the season starts. The Ottawa Fat Cats are opening Ottawa Stadium on Tuesdays and Thursdays from April 19 through April 28. The sessions were created for NCBL players, but members of the Knights are also welcome to pay and attend.

The sessions take place April 19, 21, 26 and 28 between 4:30-7:30 p.m. Players can run, long-toss, take batting practice in the tunnel and cage, field ground and fly balls.

Players MUST register in advance for a one-hour workout slot and the fee is $88 plus HST per player. These workouts will allow players to get onto an outdoor field before the City of Ottawa opens its fields for sports teams on May 1.

Members of the Fat Cats will also be out at the sessions. To register contact Duncan MacDonald at 613-749-2020. Registration is limited to the first 90 participants.
